Lisa Black

Board Secretary

Lisa Black serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for Poetic Justice. Drawing from her own lived experience, including 8.5 years of incarceration, Lisa brings deep empathy and insight to her advocacy work. She currently works as a Community Reception Coordinator at JusticeLink Tulsa, where she helps individuals disentangle from the criminal justice system and access the support, they need to rebuild their lives.

Lisa is a member of New Voices at Leadership Tulsa, a program that cultivates diverse and emerging community leaders.  She is currently serving as an intern with The American Theatre Company, where she is expanding her leadership and creative expression in the arts. She recently appeared in her first play, I Escaped Prison, a powerful performance rooted in lived experience and healing.

A passionate writer, Lisa is currently working on a children’s book designed to help young readers navigate the emotional challenges of having an incarcerated parent. Her creative and advocacy work are driven by a deep commitment to justice, healing, and storytelling as tools for transformation.

Lisa is a proud mother of two beautiful daughters currently in college—and the sometimes-patient roommate of a very grumpy cat.
